The Retreat at Timber Way
The Retreat at Timber Way
As artists, discovering floral design was inspiring and moving. The ability to create with flowers is a living, breathing art form. There are few other works of art that are so alive, and so fleeting.
Floral design for us has evolved over the past six years - we are constantly listening to the flowers and to nature as the source of our inspiration. With every arrangement that we design we aim to create in a way that reveals the beauty of the world around of us.
For us, designing flowers is not merely about techniques but about artistic expression. We started The Retreat a year ago as a place to gather with florists and flower-lovers to share our love for arranging flowers, to share what we know about the vast flower world and the business of flowers, and to empower you to find your own artistic voice.
Our hope and desire with The Retreat is to help teach you how to view arranging flowers in a more thoughtful, artistic way.
The Retreat at Timber Way with Anthousai
is a full-day floral design workshop retreat focusing on bouquets, foam free arrangements and large scale foam-free floral installations. This Retreat is for florists and flower-lovers of all skill levels. It is both perfect for the person who has never touched a single stem, and the florist who has owned their business for many years and is wanting to refresh and redefine their style of arranging. Everyone is welcome!
We will spend the entire day together at photographer Peyton Byford’s beautiful house in the OKC metro area playing with the most beautiful of local and seasonal flowers and learning how to approach floral design in a meaningful and thoughtful way.
What you can expect -
We will discuss our approach to artistic floral design, and demonstrate how we create hand held bouquets, foam-free arrangements in vases (using pin frogs and chicken wire), and large scale, foam-free floral installations.
We will help guide you as you create all of the items mentioned about on your own, which you will be able to take home at the end of the day.
We will have open discussion throughout the day, as well as designated time to sit down and chat about all things regarding floral design, the business side, etc. We are a completely open book and our goal is for you to leave feeling empowered and full of clarity when it comes to design and business.
We will demonstrate our approach to tablescape styling, as well as discuss where we source our styling items from.
We will orchestrate a styled shoot during the workshop, with a model, showcasing everything that you have created. You will be given these photos after the retreat, and will be able to use them for your own personal and professional use.
Film Photographer Hayley Waldo will be photographing the entire day from start to finish, including a time of styled shooting all of your creations. All of these photos will be available for you to have and to use.
Light breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided.
Other gifts and special treats for attendees.
Each attendee will receive $75 off of a One on One workshop with Anthousai to use at a later date, if they wish!
The Retreat will be held at the beautiful home of photographer Peyton Byford in the OKC metro area in OK on Thursday, November 7th, 2019 from 9am - 6pm. Once you register we will send more information and the Retreat address.
